§ 136-98. Counties authorized to participate in costs of road construction and maintenance, participation is voluntary.

§ 136‑98.  Countiesauthorized to participate in costs of road construction and maintenance,participation is voluntary.

(a)        Repealed by SessionLaws 2007‑428, s. 4, effective August 23, 2007.

(b)        Nothing in thisArticle prohibits counties from establishing service districts for roadmaintenance under Part 1, Article 16 of Chapter 153A of the General Statutes.

(c)        A county isauthorized to participate in the cost of rights‑of‑way,construction, reconstruction, improvement, or maintenance of a road on the Statehighway system under agreement with the Department of Transportation. Countyparticipation in improvements to the State highway system is voluntary.
