§ 14‑111.2.  Obtainingambulance services without intending to pay therefor – certain named counties.

Any person who with intent todefraud shall obtain ambulance services without intending at the time ofobtaining such services to pay, if financially able, any reasonable chargestherefor shall be guilty of a Class 2 misdemeanor. A determination by the courtthat the recipient of such services has willfully failed to pay for theservices rendered for a period of 90 days after request for payment, and that therecipient is financially able to do so, shall raise a presumption that therecipient at the time of obtaining the services intended to defraud theprovider of the services and did not intend to pay for the services.

The section shall apply toAlamance, Anson, Ashe, Beaufort, Cabarrus, Caldwell, Camden, Carteret, Caswell,Catawba, Chatham, Cherokee, Clay, Cleveland, Cumberland, Davie, Duplin, Durham,Forsyth, Gaston, Graham, Guilford, Halifax, Haywood, Henderson, Hoke, Hyde,Iredell, Macon, Mecklenburg, Montgomery, New Hanover, Onslow, Orange,Pasquotank, Pender, Person, Polk, Randolph, Robeson, Rockingham, Scotland,Stanly, Surry, Transylvania, Union, Vance, Washington, Wilkes and YadkinCounties only.
