§ 143B‑73.  U.S.S. North Carolina BattleshipCommission – creation, powers and duties.

There is hereby created the U.S.S. North Carolina Battleship Commissionof the Department of Cultural Resources with the power and duty to adopt,amend, and rescind rules and regulations under and not inconsistent with thelaws of this State necessary in carrying out the provisions and purposes ofthis Part.

(1)        The U.S.S. North Carolina Battleship Commission is authorizedand empowered to adopt such rules and regulations not inconsistent with themanagement responsibilities of the Secretary of the Department provided byChapter 143A of the General Statutes and laws of this State and this Chapterthat may be necessary and desirable for the operation and maintenance of theU.S.S. North Carolina as a permanent memorial and exhibit commemorating theheroic participation of the men and women of North Carolina in the prosecutionand victory of the Second World War and for the faithful performance andfulfillment of its duties and obligations.

(2)        The U.S.S. North Carolina Battleship Commission shall havethe power and duty to establish standards and adopt rules and regulations: (i)establishing and providing for a proper charge for admission to the ship; and(ii) for the maintenance and operation of the ship as a permanent memorial andexhibit.

(3)        The Commission shall adopt rules and regulations consistentwith the provisions of this Chapter. (1973, c. 476, s. 57; 1977, c. 741, s. 3.)
