§ 62‑278. Revocation of license plates by Utilities Commission.

(a)        The license plates of any carrier of persons or householdgoods by motor vehicle for compensation may be revoked and removed from thevehicles of any such carrier for wilful violation of any provision of thisChapter, or for the wilful violation of any lawful rule or regulation made andpromulgated by the Utilities Commission. To that end the Commission shall havepower upon complaint or upon its own motion, after notice and hearing, to orderthe license plates of any such offending carrier revoked and removed from thevehicles of such carrier for a period not exceeding 30 days, and it shall bethe duty of the Department of Motor Vehicles to execute such orders made by theUtilities Commission upon receipt of a certified copy of the same.

(b)        This section shall be in addition to and independent ofother provisions of law for the enforcement of the motor carrier laws of thisState. (1951, c. 1120; 1963, c.1165, s. 1; 1995, c. 523, s. 27.)
