§ 90-185. General powers of the Board.

§ 90‑185.  Generalpowers of the Board.

The Board may:

(1)        Examine and determine the qualifications and fitness ofapplicants for a license to practice veterinary medicine in the State.

(2)        Issue, renew, deny, suspend, or revoke licenses and limitedveterinary licenses, and issue, deny, or revoke temporary permits to practiceveterinary medicine in the State or otherwise discipline veterinariansconsistent with the provisions of Chapter 150B of the General Statutes and ofthis Article and the rules adopted under this Article.

(3)        Conduct investigations for the purpose of discoveringviolations of this Article or grounds for disciplining veterinarians.

(4)        Employ full‑time or part‑time personnel –professional, clerical, or special – necessary to effectuate the provisions ofthis Article, purchase or rent necessary office space, equipment, and supplies,and purchase liability or other insurance to cover the activities of the Board,its operations, or its employees.

(5)        Appoint from its own membership one or more members to actas representatives of the Board at any meeting within or without the Statewhere such representation is deemed desirable.

(6)        Adopt, amend, or repeal all rules necessary for itsgovernment and all regulations necessary to carry into effect the provisions ofthis Article, including the establishment and publication of standards ofprofessional conduct for the practice of veterinary medicine.
