§ 16-22-15 Cardiopulmonary resuscitationtraining. – (a) The department of elementary and secondary education shall develop andprescribe a cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) training course for publicschool students in the state. The course shall be established in accordancewith the requirements and criteria obtained from the Red Cross and/or theAmerican Heart Association, Rhode Island Affiliate, Inc. and the director ofthe department of health. The department of elementary and secondary educationshall promulgate course guidelines including the age or grade level of pupilsrequired to receive cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) training.
(b) The school committees of the several cities, towns, andschool districts shall provide for the incorporation of the course in trainingin existing health education courses.
