§ 16-25.1-1 - Definitions.

SECTION 16-25.1-1

   § 16-25.1-1  Definitions. – As used in this chapter:

   (1) "Blind student" means an individual who is eligible forspecial education services and who:

   (i) Has a visual acuity of 2 0/200 or less in the better eyewith correcting lenses or has a limited field of vision so that the widestdiameter subtends an angular distance of no greater than twenty degrees; or

   (ii) Has a medically indicated expectation of visualdeterioration.

   (2) "Braille" means the system of reading and writing throughtouch commonly known as standard English Braille.

   (3) "Individualized education program" means a writtenstatement developed for a student eligible for special education servicespursuant to the federal Individuals with Disabilities Education Act, 20 U.S.C.§ 1400 et seq.
