SECTION 17-22-6

   § 17-22-6  Certification of results togovernor and secretary of state – Failure to elect to general assembly.– The state board shall, immediately after completing the counting, canvass, andtabulating of the votes cast for general officers and senators andrepresentatives in the general assembly and declaring the result, furnish thegovernor a certificate of the names of the persons who have been electedgeneral officers for the ensuing year, and shall also furnish to the secretaryof state a certificate of the names of the persons elected as senators andrepresentatives in the general assembly. Whenever the count, canvass, andtabulation of the board shows that there has been a failure to elect a senatoror representative or any of them in any district, the board shall immediatelycertify the fact to the secretary of state, specifying which of the officerswere not elected.
