   § 21-28-3.27  Labeling by dispensingapothecaries. – Whenever an apothecary sells or dispenses any controlled substance on aprescription issued by a practitioner, he or she shall affix to the containerin which the controlled substance is sold or dispensed, a label showing his orher own name and address, or the name, and address of the apothecary for whomhe or she is lawfully acting; the label shall be printed, typed, or acombination of printed and typed, but shall not be hand written; the name andaddress of the patient, or, if the patient is an animal, the name and addressof the owner of the animal and the species of the animal; the name of thepractitioner by whom the prescription was written or ordered; the number ofpills dispensed, and any directions that may be stated on the prescription. Noperson shall alter, deface, or remove any label so affixed.
