§ 27-2.4-11 - Exemption from examination.

SECTION 27-2.4-11

   § 27-2.4-11  Exemption from examination.– (a) An individual who applies for an insurance producer license in this statewho was previously licensed for the same lines of authority in another stateshall not be required to complete any pre-licensing education or examination,but shall be required to certify knowledge of Rhode Island law applicable toinsurance producers. This exemption is only available if the person iscurrently licensed in that state or if the application is received withinninety (90) days of the cancellation of the applicant's previous license and ifthe prior state issues a certification that, at the time of cancellation, theapplicant was in good standing in that state or the state's producer databaserecords, maintained by the NAIC, its affiliates or subsidiaries, indicate thatthe insurance producer is or was licensed in good standing for the line ofauthority requested.

   (b) A person licensed as an insurance producer in anotherstate who moves to this state shall make application within ninety (90) days ofestablishing legal residence to become a resident insurance producer pursuantto § 27-2.4-8. No pre-licensing education or examination shall be requiredof that person to obtain any line of authority previously held in the priorstate except where the insurance commissioner determines otherwise byregulation.
