§ 28-14-10.1 - Payment of wages directly to employee's account in financial institution.

SECTION 28-14-10.1

   § 28-14-10.1  Payment of wages directly toemployee's account in financial institution. – (a) Notwithstanding any other provision of law, upon written request anemployee of a state agency or any other employer may authorize a disbursingofficer to make payment by sending to a financial organization designated bythe employee a check or credit in the amount of net pay due to the employeedrawn in favor of the organization and for credit to the checking account ofthe employee or for deposit in the savings account of the employee or for thepurchase of shares for the employee.

   (b) If more than one employee to whom a payment is to be madedesignates the same financial organization, the disbursing officer shall makethe payment by sending to the organization a check or credit that is drawn infavor of the organization for the total amount designated by those employeesand by specifying the amount to be credited to the account of each of thoseemployees.

   (c) "State agency" means any department, agency, board,office, or commission in state government.

   (d) "Financial organization" means any bank, savings bank,savings and loan association or similar institution, or federal or statechartered credit union.

   (e) The provisions of this section shall be with the consentof the employer.
