SECTION 3-5-5

   § 3-5-5  Towns and cities in which licensesauthorized. – It is lawful in every town and city in this state, except in the town ofBarrington, to issue licenses for the manufacture, keeping for sale, and saleof beverages in these cities and towns and if upon any referendum provided forin § 3-5-2 the majority of the ballots cast in the town of Barrington arein favor of granting licenses for the sale of nonintoxicating or intoxicatingbeverages, then licenses may be issued for the sale in that town of beveragesin accordance with the result of that referendum; and provided, further, thatno license for the sale of nonintoxicating beverages or of intoxicatingbeverages shall be issued in any town or city in this state if a majority ofthe ballots on which the electors in these cities or towns have indicated theirresponse to the appropriate question are opposed to the issuing of thoselicenses.
