§ 36-4-62 - Pay incentive program.

SECTION 36-4-62

   § 36-4-62  Pay incentive program. –There is hereby established a pay incentive program for all state employeesexcept department heads, administrators, or any supervisors considered by thepersonnel administrator to be at the management level. Any state employee whosubmits recommendations or proposals to eliminate inefficiencies, duplication,or waste shall receive five percent (5%) of any savings realized up to amaximum of two thousand dollars ($2,000) which relate directly to theemployee's proposed change. The incentive pay shall be computed on the actualsavings for a twelve (12) month period, the period to run from the time thatthe proposed change is instituted. The incentive pay shall be paid to theemployee at the end of the twelve (12) month period in a lump sum from thebudget account of the department that realized the savings and shall be inaddition to the employee's regular salary. Employees who qualify for theincentive pay shall receive the lump sum only for the first year's savings andnot for any subsequent years. The personnel administrator shall promulgate suchrules as he or she may consider necessary, appropriate, or desirable to carryout the provisions of this section.
