SECTION 39-13-11

   § 39-13-11  Registration and licensing ofvehicles and operators – CPR training requirement. – (a) Upon the granting of a certificate of public convenience and necessity asprovided in this chapter, the division of motor vehicles shall havejurisdiction over the registration of any jitney and over the licensing of itsoperator and its lighting, safety, and sanitary conditions.

   (b) Effective January 1, 1986, no new license shall be issuedto a jitney operator unless he or she has presented evidence of satisfactorycompletion of a cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) training program. Theprogram is to be approved by the American Heart Association, Rhode IslandAffiliate, Inc., or the American Red Cross Association, Inc.; provided,however, that any person licensed as a jitney operator prior to January 1,1986, shall not be required to complete the training program.

   (c) This section shall not apply to operators of "taxicabs"or "limited public motor vehicles" as defined in chapter 14 of this title.
