SECTION 39-21.1-13

   § 39-21.1-13  Provision of emergencyservices across jurisdictional boundaries – Joint power or otheragreements. – (a) A public safety agency which receives a request for emergency serviceoutside its jurisdictional or operational boundaries shall promptly forward therequest, utilizing the transfer or relay method, to the public safety answeringpoint or public safety agency responsible for that geographical area.

   (b) Once a public safety answering point or public safetyagency dispatches an emergency unit, the unit shall render its services to therequesting party without regard to the unit's normal jurisdictional boundaries,until it is properly relieved by the public safety agency responsible for thatgeographical area.

   (c) Public agencies within a single system, and publicagencies in different systems but who share common boundary lines, areauthorized to enter into joint power agreements or other written cooperativeagreements to implement these requirements. These agreements may furtherprovide for a public safety agency to render aid outside its normaljurisdictional boundaries on a regular basis.
