§ 42-125-5 Council created –Appointment of members. – The greenways council shall consist of seven (7) members to be appointed in thefollowing manner:
Two (2) members shall represent the public and shall beappointed by the governor with the advice and consent of the senate; one membershall be a city or town official and shall be appointed by the governor; onemember shall be the director of administration, or his or her designee; onemember shall be the executive director of the economic development corporation,or his or her designee who shall be a subordinate within the economicdevelopment corporation who shall serve as a nonvoting ex officio member; onemember shall be the director of the department of environmental management, orhis or her designee who shall be a subordinate within the department ofenvironmental management; and one member shall be the director of thedepartment of transportation, or his or her designee who shall be a subordinatewithin the department of transportation. No one shall be eligible forappointment unless he or she is a resident of this state. The members of thecouncil shall serve without compensation. Those members of the council as ofthe effective date of this act [April 20, 2006] who were appointed tothe council by the governor shall continue to serve the balance of theircurrent terms. Thereafter, members shall be appointed to three (3) year terms.All appointments made under this section after the effective date of this act[April 20, 2006] shall be subject to the advice and consent of thesenate.
