SECTION 44-9-18.1
§ 44-9-18.1 Barrington – Assignmentsto The Barrington Land Conservation Trust, Incorporated. – Notwithstanding the provisions of § 44-9-18, the town treasurer of thetown of Barrington may transfer and assign any or all tax titles held by thetown for no monetary consideration to The Barrington Land Conservation Trust,Incorporated, a non-profit Rhode Island corporation, and further shall not berequired to send notice of any intended transfer or assignment to the owner ofrecord. The transfer or assignment shall not confer upon The Barrington LandConservation Trust, Incorporated, any greater rights or responsibilities thanthose granted to or imposed upon the town of Barrington as original holder ofthe tax title. The Barrington Land Conservation Trust, Incorporated, shall holdany tax title transferred or assigned subject to any and all rights ofredemption held by the owner of record and/or his or her successors and assignsin title. Notwithstanding the foregoing, The Barrington Land ConservationTrust, Incorporated, shall also hold and be permitted to exercise any rightsthat the town of Barrington previously held, including the right to petitionfor foreclosure of any rights of redemption.
