§ 5-45-7 - Qualification for licensure.

SECTION 5-45-7

   § 5-45-7  Qualification for licensure.– In order to be eligible for licensure pursuant to this chapter, a person shall:

   (1) Be not less than eighteen (18) years of age and of goodmoral character.

   (2) Have satisfactorily completed a course of instruction andtraining approved by the department. The course shall be designed as to contentand administered as to present sufficient knowledge of the needs properly to beserved by nursing homes, laws governing the operation of nursing homes and theprotection of the interests of patients in the nursing homes, and the elementsof good nursing home administration.

   (3) Have passed an examination conducted by the board anddesigned to test for competence in the subject matter referred to insubdivision (2) of this section. Where the department deems it appropriate forpurposes of according with religious teachings, the examination of anindividual may exclude any subjects which could be considered in derogation of,or in conflict with, the teachings and practice of any recognized religiousfaith. Any license issued on the basis of that abridged examination shall beannotated to designate the appropriate limitation of the type of facility ofwhich the licensed individual may be an administrator.
