§ 9-32.1-11 - Enforcement of foreign judgments.

SECTION 9-32.1-11

   § 9-32.1-11  Enforcement of foreignjudgments. – (a) If an action is brought to enforce a judgment of another jurisdictionexpressed in a foreign money and the judgment is recognized in this state asenforceable, the enforcing judgment must be entered as provided in §9-32.1-8, whether or not the foreign judgment confers an option to pay in anequivalent amount of United States dollars.

   (b) A foreign judgment may be filed in accordance with anyrule or statute of this state providing a procedure for its recognition andenforcement.

   (c) A satisfaction or partial payment made upon the foreignjudgment, on proof thereof, must be credited against the amount of foreignmoney specified in the judgment, notwithstanding the entry of judgment in thisstate.

   (d) A judgment entered on a foreign money claim only inUnited States dollars in another state must be enforced in this state in UnitedStates dollars only.
