1-40-25. Board of Minerals and Environment--Composition--Appointment and terms of members. The Board of Minerals and Environment shall consist of nine members appointed by the Governor, not all of whom shall be from the same political party. The terms of the members of the board shall be for four years. Each present member of the former Board of Environmental Protection, however, shall continue his existing term on the board without this order affecting the length or conditions of the present term. Appointments to fill vacancies created by the expiration of the terms of present members of the former Board of Environmental Protection shall be for four years. The terms of members of the board first appointed after July 1, 1981, shall be such that no more than three and no less than two members of the board, including those members continuing from the former Board of Environmental Protection, shall have terms expiring in any one calendar year. The length of such initial terms shall be designated by the Governor. Any member appointed to fill a vacancy arising from other than the natural expiration of a term shall serve for only the unexpired portion of the term.
