8-27-403. Approval of contracts with insurance companies Policy terms.

(a)  The county executive or a delegated committee of the governing body may prepare and present to the governing body for approval a contract or contracts with one (1) or more insurance companies or other corporations which may exist under the provisions of title 56, chapter 27, 28, or 29 authorized to do business in the state of Tennessee, or to one (1) or more insurance trusts which have contracted with an insurance company or companies or corporations, as set out above, authorized to do business in the state of Tennessee for a policy or policies of group insurance to provide for the payment of group life, hospitalization, disability, or medical expenses for designated county employees. Such approval shall be by majority vote of the governing body and shall be executed in the name of the county. Such contracts may from time to time be amended, modified, or changed by majority vote of the governing body.

(b)  The policy or policies shall conform to the standard provisions of group insurance policies as set forth in this code.
