§ 17.1-100. Judicial performance evaluation program.

The Supreme Court, by rule, shall establish and maintain a judicialperformance evaluation program that will provide a self-improvement mechanismfor judges and a source of information for the reelection process. BySeptember 1 of each year, the Supreme Court, or its designee, shall transmita report of the evaluation in the final year of the term of each justice andjudge whose term expires during the next session of the General Assembly tothe Chairmen of the House and Senate Committees for Courts of Justice. Thereporting requirement of this section shall become effective when funds areappropriated for this program and the first justice or judge is evaluated.
