§ 18.2-97.1. Removal of a dog collar; penalty.

Any person who removes from a dog an electronic or radio transmitting collarwithout the permission of the owner of the dog and with the intent to preventor hinder the owner from locating the dog, is guilty of a Class 1misdemeanor. Upon a finding of guilt, the court shall order that thedefendant pay as restitution the actual value of any dog lost or killed as aresult of such removal. The court may also order restitution to the owner forany lost breeding revenues.
