§ 19.2-273. Certificate that witness is needed in another state; hearing.

If a judge of a court of record in any state which by its laws has madeprovisions for commanding persons within that state to attend and testify inthis Commonwealth certifies under the seal of such court (1) that there is acriminal prosecution pending in such court or that a grand jury investigationhas commenced or is about to commence, (2) that a person being within thisCommonwealth is a material witness in such prosecution or grand juryinvestigation and (3) that his presence will be required for a specifiednumber of days, upon presentation of such certificate to any judge of a courtof record in the county or city in which such person is, such judge shall fixa time and place for hearing and shall make an order directing the witness toappear at a time and place certain for the hearing.
