§ 45.1-161.292:20. Examinations required for Mineral Mining Certifications.

A. The Board of Mineral Mining Examiners may require examination ofapplicants for certification; however, the Board shall require examination ofapplicants for a mine inspector certification. The Board may require suchother information from applicants as may be necessary to ascertain competencyand qualifications for each task. Except as provided by this chapter andChapters 14.5 (§ 45.1-161.293 et seq.) and 14.6 (§ 45.1-161.304 et seq.) forgeneral mineral miner and surface foreman certifications, the Board shallprescribe the qualifications for any certification. The examinations shall beconducted under such rules, conditions and regulations as the Board shallpromulgate. Such rules, when promulgated, shall be made a part of thepermanent record of the Board, shall periodically be published, and shall beof uniform application to all applicants.

B. Any certificate issued by the Board, except the general mineral minercertification, shall be valid from the date of issuance for a period of fiveyears, unless renewed, or unless revoked by the Board pursuant to §45.1-161.292:26. The general mineral miner certification shall be valid fromthe date of issuance until it may be revoked by the Board pursuant to §45.1-161.292:26.
